Trump executive order targets state AI laws with litigation and funding pressure

PolicyGovernmentFrontierUSConfirmed

EO 14365 told the Attorney General to set up an AI Litigation Task Force within 30 days, Commerce to list 'onerous' state AI laws within 90 days, and agencies to condition BEAD broadband and other grants on states easing AI rules. It also asked the FTC and FCC to act and ordered a legislative proposal for a preemptive federal framework sparing state child-safety, data-centre and state-procurement laws.

Why it matters

It does not void any state law by itself, but it opened a federal legal and financial campaign against state AI statutes such as Colorado's and California's.
