Stargate UAE: 1GW OpenAI cluster planned in Abu Dhabi, first 200MW due in 2026

DealComputeGovernmentAE USConfirmed

G42, OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, Cisco and SoftBank announced a 1GW AI cluster inside the 5GW UAE–US AI Campus unveiled a week earlier during President Trump's Gulf visit, with 200MW expected to go live in 2026. G42 builds it, OpenAI and Oracle operate it, and the deal includes reciprocal Emirati investment in US Stargate sites; OpenAI called it the first OpenAI for Countries project.

Why it matters

It tied US chip access to sovereign AI investment deals, a template for later US approvals of advanced-chip exports to the Gulf.
