US Treasury releases AI lexicon and finance-specific AI risk framework

PolicyFinanceUSConfirmed

Treasury published an AI Lexicon and a Financial Services AI Risk Management Framework that adapts the NIST AI RMF to banking and markets, developed through FBIIC and the Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council's AI Executive Oversight Group. Released to support the AI Action Plan, they are the first of a series, with four more resources planned on governance, transparency, data practices, fraud and digital identity.

Why it matters

In the absence of binding US federal AI rules for finance, this voluntary framework is likely to become the benchmark examiners and auditors use.
