Warner Music settles with Suno and agrees licensed AI music models for 2026

DealInformationUSReported

Warner Music Group dropped its copyright suit against Suno in exchange for a partnership under which Suno will launch licensed models in 2026 and retire its current ones, stop downloads on the free tier and cap paid downloads, and let artists control use of their names, likenesses, voices and compositions. Suno also bought WMG's Songkick; the deal followed Universal Music's settlement with Udio in October and WMG's own Udio settlement the same month.

Why it matters

Major labels converted the RIAA-backed lawsuits into licensing deals, setting a template where generative music firms pay for training and accept output controls.
