NHS England updates AI scribe guidance and launches supplier registry

PolicyHealthGBConfirmed

NHS England published version 2 of its guidance on AI-enabled ambient scribing, alongside a national self-certified registry for ambient voice technology suppliers. Products must be at least MHRA Class I registered and meet DTAC, DCB0129/0160 clinical-safety and data-protection requirements, and pilots are capped at four months so they cannot be used to avoid compliance; patients must be informed and able to object.

Why it matters

It turns AI scribes from local experiments into a regulated NHS product category with a minimum compliance bar for suppliers.
