EU publishes General-Purpose AI Code of Practice ahead of AI Act model duties

Rule changeFrontierEUConfirmed

The European Commission published a voluntary three-part code (transparency, copyright, and safety and security) that general-purpose AI model providers can sign to show compliance with AI Act Articles 53 and 55, whose obligations applied from 2 August 2025. Signatories include Amazon, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, Mistral AI and OpenAI; xAI signed only the safety and security chapter.

Why it matters
